Basiliski or basilisk-family of lizards from the family Corytophanide. The males have a triangular crest on the nape, a transverse fold on the throat, and a leathery crest along the back of the anterior third of the tail, supported by an elongated acute process of the vertebra. They live by the water, on trees and bushes. The main food is insects.
